hi -
TIA for any advice on this -- I have a ceiling fan I just installed smart switches for in my son's bedroom (as pictured -- one switch controls the fan on/off/speed, and the other controls the ceiling fan light). I want to add 4 recessed lighting cans in the room, and a separate smart switch to control the recessed lighting, but there are two studs close together (about 4" apart, as pictured, on both sides of the hole). I am wondering if it is wise/safe to partially cut out the stud on...
cutting out part of a stud to fit an extra switch in..?
