Anticipating wildfire season here in CA, I plan to make a pair of home air filtration units, each consisting of a box fan and five 5" thick filters. I would like to keep the cost down but don't want to get a MERV 13 filter that is low cost because it is actually only filters to MERV 8. Also, I have not been able to find a single online source (big box, little box, or Amazon) that states the number of pleats in the filter let alone the total filter area (i.e. square inches if flattened out)...
