luxaire furnace pcuhald12n080a short cycling | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
Hello I have a 1997 luxaire furnace model number pcuhald12n080a . Last year it was short cycling . So I replaced flame rod and limit switch. The switch fixed the problem thank God. However its getting cold now and the short cycling began again. I replaced the filter. Cleaned out the furnace with a shop vac. The indicator blinker light is blinking red. It's not giving me a code. It will blink slowly every 2 seconds continously and doesn't stop. Again it's red. But no actual code. Any ideas??

Uses for Air Handler Motor | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
I have an air handler with 240v variable speed motor coming my way soon (I hope). I wanted it to make a dust collector out of for my shop but from reading up on it that's probably not a good application of that type of fan.
So I was thinking what else could I use the motor for. It's a 1HP, 240v variable speed (not multi-speed). I was wondering if I got an appropriate size VFD if I could use the motor in a bandsaw or similar application. I've seen VFDs for 2 and 3HP CNC spindles for a couple hundred dollars. I was thinking of picking up an old 14 inch wood bandsaw and converting it to full time metal cutting.
Thoughts? Worthwhile or am I wasting my time and money.

24V Short... Continuity | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
Hi All,
Trying to track down a short on the low voltage side of a Goodman air handler/heatpump system, and trying to figure out where continuity is, and isn't, normal.
Obviously, with control wires completely disconnected from everything, there should be no continuity between any two wires.
What about when the control wires are connected to the control boards? With no power, should there be continuity anywhere?
What are the general guidelines for continuity when there is no power applied?
Thanks!

Do I need AC charge? | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
10-12? difference between vents and return. This season and last. Never tested previously.
Last season large copper pipe at condenser was 64?, this season it's 76?. Both tested several times on different days. Never tested previously.
yes unit was on cool and fans were spinning when tested. Always waited at least 5 minutes after unit switched on to read temperatures.
This unit was installed in 2001, but is rarely used. It's never been charged since installation. Yes, I live in west central florida, but I use my heater more then the cool. It still cools me fine, but it does take slightly longer to cool the house.
Im affected more by humidity then heat. When Im uncomfortable, I set it to 2 degrees cooler then the ambient at that specific time. I might turn it off before the cycle completes or after it completes. Sometimes I let it cycle on and off a few times. Unless it's very hot and sunny outside, one cycle is enough to make me feel fine for a few hours.
When this unit fails, if i can't fix it myself, I might have to resort to window units.
I been reading a lot of service maintenance info online. Some of the things Ive checked:
no air leaks in duck-work.
vents and return are not blocked.
no fluid leaks.
I washed the condenser coils with foaming coil cleaner.
mtr spins free.
inspected electrical connections.
Duel cap read 38/5ufd and should be 45/5, so i replaced it.
I cant clean the evaporator coils with foam, but the top side looks fine.
Id like to do what i can to make this unit last.
tks

Advice tracing a 24v shortt | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
Having issues with the 24v 3a fuse blowing on a Carrier Weathermaker 8000ts. Issues started after a connected central AC (Lennox HS29-018-1p) stopped working. That had leaking and corroded start and run capacitors that I replaced along with cleaning out some mouse debris. When I first powered everything up the 3a in the control board was blown. Replaced that and tried again and everything worked fine for a week. Then it threw the 24 code again with another shorted 3a fuse.
When I put a fresh fuse in, I can turn it on, run the blower, run a heating cycle and everything is fine. But as soon as the thermostat is set to turn on the AC the 3a will blow immediately.
I have tried disconnecting the wires from the 24v contro block and adding them back, connecting the red air contactor wire back to Y/Y2 terminal will blow the fuse if the ac is set turn on.
Measuring resistance at the control board between the red and white wires that go to the air contactor is the same as measuring at the air contactor with those wires disconnected from it, ~11.7 ohms.
I did replace the short 24v leads to both sides of the air contactor yhat are inside the unit as they looked questionable. I see no damage to the 24v wires that run from the furnace to the AC on the portions that I can see.
The outdoor fan does turn on if manually engage the air contactor. Air filter is new, coils look clean and it was draining fine.
Ideas on what to do next?
Thanks in advance,
canam73.

Oil boiler or Electric Boiler? | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
For years, I am using an oil boiler as my house's primary heating source. I want to upgrade it to an electric boiler, but I'm kinda having second thoughts. Can you guys suggest to me what should I do? My current boiler is old enough to be replaced. Should I stick to an oil boiler or should I purchase an electric one? Thanks in advance!

air jordan 6 retro low | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
Uppers constructed of the recycled Primeblue material see yarns of black and white for a high-contrast, knit patterned design. Rather than the standard plastic lace cage and heel counter, this pair ultra boost 21 homme opts for soft, black textiles dressing these elements. A signature foam white Boost midsole balances out the aforementioned black details and further carries out the Oreo color scheme. Underfoot, a Continental Rubber outsole completes the look while delivering traction.
</br></br>
As we wind down towards the last days of the summer season, adidas is gearing up for the Fall with three new colorways of their adidas performance terrex models. Designed to be the go-to off-road sneaker, the high-top silhouette boasts an abundance of details and materials selected for the purpose of protection against the elements. Taking design cues from the brand’s performance runners such as the Ultra Boost, the Terrex is constructed with a full Primeknit upper engineered for a snug and adaptive fit merged with a full-length Boost midsole and Continental rubber outsole built to provide a responsive ride and premium traction.
</br></br>
After a number of gradient-dressed and neon-accented colorways, the nike presto react femme returns with a simple yet season-appropriate rendition. Prior, neutrals typically took the lead, dressing most if not all of the upper. But here, the pair consists primarily of pink, its floral shades dyeing the solid-colored neoprene exterior. Both the lining, toe cap, and lower Swoosh follow suit, while the fixtures adjacent opt for white shades.
</br></br>
After a quick L via the raffle earlier in the week, both SNKRS and retailers are lining up to offer the young, ever-popular artist their best wishes. This makes air jordan 6 retro low all the better for us, as more than a handful of stockists are releasing the aforementioned pair in its adult, PS, and TD sizes. Relative to the original, the “British Khaki” is far brighter yet still brimming with the same militaristic ethos. Cargo pockets adorn both the lateral and medial collar, doubling the carry capacity of its predecessor.

AC Unit Problem Advice | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
Hey guys, I have a Panasonic window AC unit installed in my tiny home and it's been having issues lately. It still runs, but only when it's on "High cool" mode. In other modes, it doesn't blow any air at all but it's still running based on the noise I hear from the unit itself. Can I fix this problem by myself or have an HVAC guy check it out? Thanks in advance!

converse pro leather ox | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion

Chicago-born Ibn Jasper wants to make sure today’s kids know Dr. J. That would be Julius Erving, the first basketball player to dunk from the foul line, known for his free-flowing play as well as for wearing the converse pro leather ox basketball shoe. The statuesque white serves a secondary purpose too. Jasper’s intent is to channel Erving’s sophisticated style into a trophy that pays homage to the high-flying player’s individual legacy and broad impact on the game. Roman numeral embossing adds to this vibe, granting historical weight to a contemporary design accentuated by a zippered tongue.

Converse has started to release a new pair of the classic converse all star high 70 which is being called ‘Peace’.Utilizing a Egret and Black color combination, this pair features multiple peace signs across the upper. Highlighted with a canvas base, the peace signs are done in Black. That same shade is used on the laces and license plate on the heel. Completing the look is metal eyelets and Egret across the midsole.
</br></br>
The converse one star schwarz will come dressed an abstract Lavender Military camo design. The other pair will feature a more subtle Grey camo theme. Both sneakers will sit on a White rubber outsole to wrap up the design. This pack is a unique interpretation of a print designed by the US Army Engineer Research and Development Laboratory back in the 1960s. In addition the collaboration will also consist of matching apparel to complete the set.
</br></br>
The converse jack purcell pro’s dual character — part sport classic, part cultural classic — is conveyed by Takahiro Miyashita’s employment of a mismatched ‘Stars and Bars’ graphic canvas (a print originally introduced by Converse in 1991) and a vertical utility zipper framed by asymmetrical lacing. It is an appropriately respectful yet defiant approach to transforming the silhouette, fully in keeping with Takahiro’s ingenuity."

Is a home warranty worth Buying? Need Suggestions! | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
Is it really worth buying a Home Warranty Protection for your home?
On a daily basis, I use various appliances at my home like AC, refrigerator, Washing machine, Microwave oven, dishwasher, and many more. Sometimes any one of the appliances will breakdown due to some issue and I need to call the professional electrician to get it repaired. This won't happen regularly, but the repair charges are expensive.
My family was thinking to consider another option to opt for a Home Warranty, Not sure about the pros and cons of Home Warranties, but I have read quite a few articles on them. I still need an opinion on whether to opt for a Home warranty or to rely upon these professional Repair technicians? Is a Home Warranty worth it?
Need Suggestions on this.

2-wire to 5-wire furnace hookup | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
Sorry if this is an electricians questions rather than an HVAC question: I have a two-wire line running from my 1-stage furnace with no cooling to my thermostat. I am upgrading my thermostat and it needs a C wire. Now, I know there are various ways of hooking up adapters, etc., to compensate for the missing C wire. I could even get another type of thermostat. But because it is a short run from my first floor thermostat to my furnace, I want to replace the old wiring with new wiring. So I am going to get an 18/5 wire. My furnace wiring diagram (Gas-Fired, Direct Vent Condensing) shows R to R, G to G, W to W and B/C to B/C. That's four wires. What do I do with the other one -- the yellow one? Do I hook it up Y to Y even though I don't have a compressor/air conditioning system? Is there anything I'm forgetting? Thanks in advance.

HVAC evaporator service problem? | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
This HVAC central unit was installed in 1991. No maintenance service ppl have ever opened the evap door or foamed out the condenser.
I just opened the evap door and I see that there is NO access to below the coils. Not even from the air handler/furnace. So, I cant even see them. Is it useful to still spray the top side of coils with the cleaning foam? I could only spray 2 of the three coils.
Ive read yearly service should include:
"The underside of the evaporator should be cleaned with a stiff brush. When the coils are free of dust and dirt, clean the tray below the evaporator". I cant do this at all.
So, I dont know if there is a tray or how dirty it might be. Foaming the coils from the top might make the tray worse. Note that the drain works fine. I recently got the manufacturer's installation document online and it mentioned installing a trap. There is no trap in mine and yes I can see the entire line.
So, should I spray them from the top?

Trimming HVAC trunk? | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
Hi gang,
i want to finish my basement, but on my return trunk some of it sticks out further than necessary and will interfere with my ceiling line. Rather than box it in, I wanted to consider cutting it back since it appears longer than necessary.
Are there any recommendations for how best to go about this? Any potential concerns with doing so?
Pictures below. You can see there is about 12” of trunk under the joists where it is longer than necessary. Thanks in advance!

HVAC service problem? | RIDGID Forum | Plumbing, Woodworking and Power Tools - HVAC Discussion
HVAC installed (replaced) in 2001. (Oil heater and conventional AC). Everything except for duct work and flue/chimney replaced. Since then Ive had a lot of questionable service and tune up service calls and now I'm doing what I can myself. I'm also in a very bad financial situation. So, any advice would be appreciated, but I don't want to hear how I need to hire a pro. I can't afford that now and have had too much bad luck in the past.
I've been reading and learning what I can. I just bought Frost King AC foaming cleaner and followed directions, except for wash down. Instructions say no need to wash after spraying. However, all videos I've watched they hosed it out, so I did the same after 1 hour. Some left in can, so I foamed and washed it again. This time looking inside condenser while spraying. It did not spray thru. Water washing with hose nozzle sprayer and little water came thru. Maybe fins still clogged? The fins on my condenser are very close together and I can't see thru them at all. If I shine light thru I don't see that either unless it's very dark outside. I'm not sure if I should clean it again a few times or not.
Most cans I see for sale say no need to wash afterwards. So, how does it get clean?
Note that this unit was installed 19 years ago and on none of the tune up service calls did they clean the condenser. I always watch ppl doing work for me.
Two years ago I studied a lot, bought a few tools and I'm now able to fully tune up the oil heater better then any service call....ever. None of those turn ups did they check the flue draft or even look at the barometric damper. The weight was missing and there was no opening for the draft meter. This unit was actually installed incorrectly by a qualified, licensed, authorized installer.
Sorry for the rant, since I'm here for advice on the AC.
The temperature difference between AC vent and return is 12?F. The temperature of the refrigerant line where it connectors to the condenser is 64?F. I might be low on refrigerant. Maybe i will have to call someone for that, but for now i want advice on cleaning my condenser and what else I could check.
I have checked condenser:
is level
no leaks
refrigerant line Insulation
mtr spins free
ck connections
hot voltages before and after the contacts and to gnd.
Inspect and tighten screws and plugs
capacitor visual.
I have not checked the Evaporator yet. It's metal taped shut. I will open this later.
condenser is carrier 38ckc
