Having issues with the 24v 3a fuse blowing on a Carrier Weathermaker 8000ts. Issues started after a connected central AC (Lennox HS29-018-1p) stopped working. That had leaking and corroded start and run capacitors that I replaced along with cleaning out some mouse debris. When I first powered everything up the 3a in the control board was blown. Replaced that and tried again and everything worked fine for a week. Then it threw the 24 code again with another shorted 3a fuse.
When I put a fresh fuse in, I can turn it on, run the blower, run a heating cycle and everything is fine. But as soon as the thermostat is set to turn on the AC the 3a will blow immediately.
I have tried disconnecting the wires from the 24v contro block and adding them back, connecting the red air contactor wire back to Y/Y2 terminal will blow the fuse if the ac is set turn on.
Measuring resistance at the control board between the red and white wires that go to the air contactor is the same as measuring at the air contactor with those wires disconnected from it, ~11.7 ohms.
I did replace the short 24v leads to both sides of the air contactor yhat are inside the unit as they looked questionable. I see no damage to the 24v wires that run from the furnace to the AC on the portions that I can see.
The outdoor fan does turn on if manually engage the air contactor. Air filter is new, coils look clean and it was draining fine.
Ideas on what to do next?
Thanks in advance,
