Old tub spout will not come off!

I am trying to remove my old bathtub spout--which should just screw off counterclockwise--but it won't budge, even when I used a screwdriver, as in the photo. My guess is that the threads have rusted, but I don't know how I can get any lubricant to the pipe threads where the rust would be. Can anyone suggest what to do? Thanks!
