STEP-BY-STEP Take a non-abrasive glass cleaner and spray down the glass. Do not wipe yet! Spray down a crumpled up piece of newspaper moderately in one spot, then dip the wet part of the paper into your fireplace ashes. Wipe the ash covered newspaper in a circular motion on the glass. It will create a paste and begin to break down the soot on the doors. After working across the glass, wipe off the paste. Spray the doors one more time with glass cleaner and wipe down with either a fresh piece of newspaper or clean paper towel. It's the best thing I've found to clean my fireplace doors.
